These sessions will revisit the key principles of effective teaching.

Colleagues will have the opportunity to:
• Revisit the principles of QFT and effective AFL(Assessment for Learning)
• Consider a range of teaching, learning and assessment strategies that can be used day - to - day to enhance pupils learning
• Identify barriers to learning and review ‘tried and tested’ strategies to meet the needs of all learners.
• Reflect upon current practices and identify areas of strength and areas for further development.

This module is designed to support teachers, especially those new or returning to Y2, in understanding the requirements of the KS1 Teacher Assessment Framework for Mathematics.
The focus will be to explore;
• the main principles of the KS1 Teacher Assessment Framework for Mathematics and reflect on the implications for teaching
• the exemplification materials alongside examples of your own pupils work
• what evidence may look like at KS1 and how to use 'rich' tasks to support evidence collection against multiple statements

Suitable for all Year 2 teachers. This session will focus on the most recent guidance and training from STA. The new materials are built around the latest National training, which is only delivered to Moderation Managers and Lead Moderators. The session will explore what coherence and effective coherence looks like for the Working at standard and at Greater Depth. It will explore how to make clear judgements on writing and how to maximise the potential of your Year 2 pupils. The session will focus on exploring some of the TAF statements in more detail to improve planning as well as staff confidence and accuracy when assessing. This will all be in line with the recently released National training for Moderators 2020

This course will focus upon the key role middle leaders’ (subject leads and phase leaders) play in raising standards of achievement in their schools.

In particular these sessions will encourage colleagues to:
• Review their roles and responsibilities as a middle leader in today’s educational climate, focusing upon change management and how to lead and manage teams effectively
• Consider the importance of using and analysing a range of data to identify priorities and inform practice – strengthening action planning and self-evaluation
• Review a range of monitoring activities that can be used to support self - evaluation, including deep dive work scrutinies lesson drop ins, pupil/staff voice,
• Identify areas of strength and areas for further development

This practical module, run over two sessions, will enable schools to develop their own maths calculation policy with clear intent, and supporting ideas for implementation and impact.

The first session will focus on the progression in knowledge and skills for developing calculation methods with deeper understanding. It will include the development of prerequisite skills and the use of manipulatives, models and images to teach procedures and understanding in tandem.

The second session will provide an opportunity to reflect on your current calculation policy; how it meets the needs of your pupils in intent and implementation and ways to measure its impact.

This session will look extensively at a range of Greater Depth writing and explore the types of opportunity, feedback and texts that are needed in order to help children achieve this higher level. We will explore the full range of statements which make up the GD standard and exemplify them through samples of writing. Delegates will then get an opportunity to look at children who were assessed as Working at but had elements of Greater depth in order to further develop their accuracy when assessing these levels.
